Hey, so sorry I have not been on in so long, you remember when I said my kitten died? Well her mom was also hit and killed by a car recently, and her brother, who was my favorite cat has disappeared for the past three weeks. But in good news, my other cat ( the sister of the first kitten that was killed ) had kittens! Six healthy, beautiful kittens. I promise I will write more
-- Chapter 19:The Bond Between Us can Never be Broken --
" Squirrelflight!" Leafpool exclaimed and thrust her head affectionatley into my shoulder, " I thought... But why are you?.... How is Shrewclaw?!... Where is?"
" Leafpool," I laughed lightly and brushed my tail over her mouth to hush her, " Calm down, I have questions to,but we can talk about that later. Right now I am just so happy to see you!"
" Oh Squirrelflight so am I," she paused for a moment and looked over her shoulder to flick her tail for Crowfeather to join her, but he was already limping quickly toward her. On his dark gray face there was a giant beam.
" Leafpool!" I whispered before Crowfeather got to her side, " I am so happy for you!" I motioned toward Crowfeather with a hardly noticeable flick of my tail. She turned and smiled at me and mouthed the smae to me while flicking her tail at Shrewclaw.
Suddenly I remembered the gash in my shoulder and began to feel dizzy, before I toppled over, Shrewclaw shot forward and licked my head. Silently telling me to lean on him for support. Gratefully I did and rested my head right beneath his head.
Crowfeather, by now had gotten to us and was standing proudly beside Leafpool who still hada worried face about his wounds.
Guilt overcame me and I opened my mouth to say sorry. But I was instantly cut off.
" Hey dad! Mom!"
My gaze darted to the hill top where the voice was coming from, and I peered at Leafpool and Crowfeather who had their ears pricked also but had relaxed more than I who was worried about who the stranger was.
A handsome golden tom came shooting down the hill, followed by three other cats. I felt a little less tense because all four were apprentice sized. I heard a shriek of suprise come from one of the she-cats and three of the four stopped but the golden tom raced onward, then noticing Shrewclaw and I skidded to a stop raised his hackles and the fur on his tail raised.
" Leafpool, Crowfeather..." he said slowly looking at them to understand why we were here.
" Shh,shh.." Leafpool soothed. The motherly tone in her voice seemed so odd it stunned me to hear a former medicine cat speaking to her children.
I was completley taken aback. These were Leafpool's kits.. She was a mother. These four would be known as cats of impure blood back at the lake. That must be why Leafpool left.
" Flightpaw, Darkpaw." Crowfeather said, " Tell your sisters it is okay."
Cautiously they made their way toward us. I got a better look at them asthey neared. They all resembled their parents, so beautiful and handsome.
" Squirrelflight.." Leafpool murmured softly, " These our our kits." As she spoke she gazed warmly up at Crowfeather who returned the look.
" Wow." Shrewclaw chuckled, I smiled up at him, that was all him and I could say we were so suprised.
" These our the boys," Crowfeather said with pride, I had never heard him speak of Breezefur with such affection, as he flicked his tail at the golden tom and the dark gray tom that was his exact image, " Flightpaw and Darkpaw."
" And these our the girls, " Leafpool continued and I realized she was a very good mother as she drew her tail over the one that looked exactly like her and the white one, her tail slowed as she passed thewhite she-cat and pain twisted in her eyes, " Daintypaw and Purepaw."
" Hey." Darkpaw said and stepped forward until he wasright under me, " Leafpool talks about you a lot."
I smiled and Leafpool looked rather embarrassed.
" Hey! Nice to finally meet you!" Daintypaw purred.
" Same!" Chorused Purepaw.
" Hi." Smirked Darkpaw and I saw Crowfeather's whiskers twitch in amusement. Like father, like son I laughed.
Leafpool mumbled something to her kits who nodded and bolted back up the hill.
" They are going to finish hunting and bring back food for you two aswell." She smiled at me.
" Are you sure?" Shrewclaw chuckled softly.
" Yeah," I mewed, " We can do it ourselves."
" Not with that gash you can't." Crowfeather pointed out.
" Oh, uh yeah sorry about that." I giggled.
He shrugged and then laughed as he turned and began to walk toward where his kits had raced off, " Would you like to see where you will be staying or not?" He cried over his shoulder.
" Come on." Leafpool purred eargerly and I nodded to Shrewclaw who began to run along with us to catch up with Crowfeather.
" Hope you like it..." Leafpool whispered.
She had always been so nervous about anybody not liking her so she always made sure everything was perfect. Gentley, I ran my tail along her back for encouragement.
As soon as we broke over the hilltop I let out a loud gasp. It was so beautiful. The green hill rolled all around the sheltered clearing. Nestled in on side of a mountain was a graceful waterfall from which water tumbled like velvet.
" This is where we live," Leafpool explained, " We sleep in that den right over there." She pointed with her tail at a large tree with huge roots where one of their kits scambled after a squirrel, the tree was so large, I was suprised to see a huge hollow tree like it still standing, shielded by bushes was the entrance to their den.
" Race ya." I whispered.
Shrewclaw laughed and tensed his legs while Leafpool looked at me in a confused way, Crowfeather just laughed and mumbled what I had said to her, then she instantly crouched beside her mate and me.
" GO!" I cried and flew forward, making a mad dash for their cave home.
