Prolougue
Sweet silence. A virtue, silence, but not comforting when someone like me is standing in a place, completley alone and terrified that I had actually came here. Not even the waterfall made a gurgling noise, even though the clear water poured down into the pool. Not even the faintest pawstep.
Shaking my head in utter confusion I staggered toward the waterfall, it might have been something other than a waterfall, for I knew that there was such a thing as the Looking- Pool.
Resting my weary body on the very edge of the glass-like pool I noticed that it was completley still on top, not even the smallest ripple, but colorful images swirled beneath the glass surface.
Bringing my shaggy furred head closer I noticed that they were shockingly beautiful pictures of my kin. Fat, hot tears welled in my green eyes.
A mystical looking image of my dearly beloved mate, Sorreltail... She was looking brave and confident, yet elegant and lovely.
My sweet mother. The white queen who had decided to stay with our old forest home, who had died there, braver and more nobely than I could ever imagine. Frostfur.
My sweet daughter, Cinderfrost who held an uncanny resembleness to Cinderpelt, the bold Medicine cat who had saved Sorreltail and our kits lives.
My other dear daughter, Honeypool. The tears in my eyes grew less heavy, knowing that she held my personality underneath that honey colored pelt of hers.
My other darling daughter, Hazelfur. She was so sweet and kind, and it pained my heart knowing that the one she loved, would never lover her.
My last sweet daughter, Poppyfield. So beautiful just like her mother in every way, I also pained for her but in a different way, the one she loved, loved her back but they would never be together.
My last child, my only son. Tears grew larger in my eyes as I gazed upon my small son Molekit, who had never made it past kithood.
Finally I saw my beautiful sister Cinderpelt, who I loved and held most dearly to my heart. When she had been hit by a monster, she always told me not to worry, that she would have her noble story to tell. And she got it in becoming Thunderclans greatest Medicine cat.
Suddenly I swiveled around at the sound of loud pawsteps. I had been too consumed by the images to notice that a cat was walking toward me.
I felt my eyes widen and my jaw drop, it was was sister! My dear, beloved sister!

OOC- Creekkit is blind and mute, not deaf, sorry for writing that in the Allegiances
Mid-Chapter ( explains what happened to each of the main characters) (who are not Squirrel and Leaf)
Creekkit
" Brook! Please! Try and have some self control, " roared the furious voice of a tomcat.
" HEY!" seethed anorther tom voice, but this time it was softer more gentle, " Do not talk to my mate like that Jaywing!"
An annoyed voice a a she-cat interrupted the two toms petty arguement, this she-cat was one of the most important figures in the clan. She was the noble Medicine cat, healing and saving cats. This medicine cat was the most special though.
Because she did not believe that her clan was perfect, and she willed to go against the strict will of Starclan and the Warrior code, she hated the rules that bound her to eternal virginity in love, they kept her from being with the tom she held closest to her heart and put before all others, therefore she made sure that as long as she lived, until the day she died, she would never pretend to be something she was not: perfect.
This she-cat was called Leafpool. From the moment she was born she had been the most important figure in a prophecy that ruled and commanded almost every choice she made and every move she made. This prophecy had been kept hidden and only told to the first clan leaders, who held no special bond wih this she-cat. Not even she herself knew of it until she was at her body and minds physical peak.
She was a young warrior, like almost all the great heroes, except she was no hero. At this age, Leafpool found out of her life's foretelling. She hated it. So being ripe in age, she found new powerful strength that helped her break away from her clan. Help her break away and be with her lover.
But that is a story for another day, another time....
*****
Two gruff toms, one silver the other hazey grey. Both very intolerable of each other.
You could almost feel the harsh tension in the warm, humid air that bristled in their wiry fur.
Jaywing; son of Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight, hot-headed, and completley hateful.
Stormfur; son of Graystripe and Silverstream, proud, and overly confident.
" ENOUGH!"Leafpool whispered but the fury in her voice seemed to yowl at the two quarreling toms, " You two argue just as much as two old badgers!" She grumbled, " Just shutup."
Stormfur gave her a nasty glare and shook his shaggy head. Then the flustered cat crouched down to comfort his mate.
" The kits," Brook rasped, every syllable of every word seemed as if it would be her last, " are coming!"
*****
The moon sat fatly in the pale navy sky. Proudly relieving the sun from its position and taking over the skies and the land. Not a mew could be heard not even that of the kits Brook had just given birth to...
With Stormfur placed protectively at her side, Brook tried to feebly smile. But her head fell back and thudded softly against the dirt floor. Her breathing had shallowed and came in quick desperate gasps for air.
While Jaywing tended to her, Leafpool examined the kits.
Four.
All of them dead. She felt heavy tears begin to swim about and make their way toward her eyes. Swinging her head softly she whimpered her depressing news to Stormfur.
"Please do not tell Brook... At least not in her state right now."
Solemnly the brown tabby carried each of the kits to a hole for their bodies, beside a small creek. But out of it flowed the water of the Moonpool. It was the cleanest and purest water in all the clans. No one knew of it except for her.
She named them each as she carried them to be buried. The brown tabby she named Whisperkit. The silver- gray one Streamkit. The light gray one she named Silverkit.
Finally she came to the last one. He was by far the most handsome of all the kits. Light gray and white. Pity throbbed in Leafpool's heart as she lumbered on toward the creek with him swiniging in her jaws.
She reached the creek in less than no time. Carefully she laid him on the ground and began to arrange a hole for him. But out of the very corner she noticed a small movement. With her eyes glued on the tom kit she realized he was alive!
Dashing toward him she noticed that his cloudy eyes were blind and he had not made any noise like a normal kit because he was mute.
Glancing at the creek then back to the kit she smile, " Creekkit shall be your name my dear, and no one will look after you but me."
*****
Thankfully another litter was born right after Brook's so the poor Creekkit was not alone.
-*-
Shallowkit
Circular, soft blue eyes blinked open and a tiny, skinny she-kit aroused. Her beautiful black pelt had kit fur. Kit fur was very soft fur that felt as smooth and silky as a moth wing. She had small sprinkled spots of silver and white in her fur.The small she -kit was nestled in a tight ball between a large almost translucent white tom and a pale silver she-kit. Warm as she was it was leaf-bare and each night the temperature dropped lower, by next nightfall snow would fall instead of rain. Snow was promising this year, for heavy rainfalls had become normal.
Loud paws boomed and the little girl mewled in pain. Her little ears were not yet tolerable to noise and even the smallest noise was heard by her sensitive ears. The loud noise stopped and a large head bent down and sniffed each of the kits.
" Ferncloud, they are beautiful," whispered a tom. The she-kit could tell by his voice that he was quite old.
" Thank you, Dustpelt," an elderly she-cat spoke.
Ferncloud.. Dustpelt... Those two names echoed in her mind. Ferncloud must be her mother, and Dustpelt her father. She wriggled silently around so she could face them.
Dustpelt looked just like his name foretold. Dusty brown. Yet he had bright amber-orange eyes that burned with youth.
Ferncloud, was the opposite, she had a grey pelt with lighter flecks of grey hinted amongst it. Her eyes were green, yet tired and they seemed dependent on Dustpelt. The she-kit could see small hints of beauty that her mother might have had, and the wrinkles around her eyes suggested that she might have loved to smile. But she could also tell that her mother was not a first-time queen, the motherly air about her was almost visible it was so strong.
" Ah! Look my dear! One of them is awake, my love, look!" Dustpelt cried out in joy.
The she-kit flinched at the loudness of his voice.
" Ah! Ah! Yes my dearest one! Oh my, let us name her and feed her!"
" Ah, my dear, we will, let the little darling feed first. I am sure my sweet kit is starving!"
The beautiful black she-kit already had chosen which parent she preferred. Dustpelt.
" Eh, if you wish," the trace of frustration in Ferncloud's voice was noticed and Dustpelt leaned in and picked of the little kit gentley.
Laying her by his mates belly, Dustpelt examined his kit, she was a girl, she was like her mother in peltage, she was beautiful, she was the runt, and she was his favorite.
The she-kit had been a bit confused at frist when she was liad down but then she began to drink hungrily, her loud slurps and suckles woke her siblings and they shoved her out of the way to get to the milk.
" Shallowkit," Ferncloud chirped, " because her beauty would make any tom as shallow as a rain-drop.
Dustpelt nodded, but he and Ferncloud soon started obsessing over the other two. Leaving Shallowkit out.
She felt a bit hurt but crawled after a hypnotizing scent. She could not figure out what it was. She found herself in the other corner of the spacious nursery.
Another queen and her mate chatted away, Shallowkit peeked over at the queens belly because she did not see any kits near the queen, she expected that she was pregnant. But the queens belly was more fit and flat than her mothers!
Confused she noticed that the queens mate was staring at her. He whispered something quickly than becokoned her over.
Shallowkit stared blankly at the silverish tom but obeyed.
" Hey!" the tom purred, " Are you Fernclouds kit?"
She nodded slowly and glanced between the pair.
" What's your name dear?" the she-cat asked.
" Uh, Sh- Sa- Shhh- ah- low-kit. Shallowkit!" She giggled.
" Have you met our son?" the tom asked.
" Nu-uh," she replied.
" Creekkit!" the queen called and gave Shallowkit a smile.
Creekkit had stolen the spotlight and Shallowkit was only paying attention to him, he was the most perfect tom she had seen, even though she had not seen many. His light gray pelt held no signs of silver of dustiness, but it was glossy and handsome. He had ivory rims around his foggy sky blue eyes. He also had three ivory paws, with only one paw, his left back paw spared. He had an ivory tipped tail as well.
His father rushed forward when Creekkit stumbled and helped him over to where Sallowkit was.
" Meet our son dearest," the mother purred.
Creekkit was not looking at her but somehwere in the distance, she crawled over to sit in front of his handsome eyes and smiled at him.
" Shallowkit he is blind and mute, he cnnot see you or talk to you, but he can hear you." the father whispered.
Tears welled in the kits navy eyes, " Oh.." She turned back to Creekkit who had crinkled his face into a scowl.
" Hey, Creekkit!" she tried to sound cheerful, " I am Shallowkit!"
Creekkit's face softened up and his ears perked.
" We will be best friends," Shallowkit declared and licked his cheek.
Puddlepaw & Drizzlingpaw
" I do not know for sure Reedstar, but they are such new apprentices, I am sure they would fall back on their training..." the always, annoyingly happy voice of Willowheart had faded into a sorrowful mew.
Puddlepaw pushed his nose through the thick clump of reeds as he watched his leader speak with his mentor.
Puddlepaw rolled his blue and silver eyes in annoyance, his father was the leader and his eldest cousin was Willowheart, so every thing that happened to his family had to be sifted by them before it ever gotten into his and his sisters ears.
" I do not think my boy or my girl are ready to hear this." Reedstar winced as he spoke of Puddlepaw.
The wiry strings of Puddlepaw's cold heart were pulled by only few cats, Drizzlingpaw, his father, Willowheart, and his mother, Dawnflower. Right now they were being yanked on by his father, he knew that his dad did not want him to become a medicine cat, but a leader like himself.
If only Puddlepaw did not enjoy going against the will of Starclan so much, he would never have even thought of becoming a Medicine cat. But he did.
A soft furred cat with a swimmers body and a skinny, muscular figure shifted beside him, it was his sister.
" Puddlepaaaw!" she whispered, her yellow eyes pleading.
" Hold on!" he whispered back and whipped around to face his relatives again, but instead of seeing the two, all he saw was Willowheart's annoyed eyes gleaming at him.
" You two come here," for once she was not yelling at Puddlepaw for spying, " something important just happened."
" Whaaaat?!" Puddlepaw snarled.
" You mother had a heart failure and died."
Both apprentices were quickly shutup, they loved their parents more than anyone.
" No," Drizzlingpaw gasped, tears already streaming freely down her cheeks.
" Yes."
*****
Puddlepaw curled his brown and white body in a tight circle, so many regrets swam in his mind.
If only I had gone to see her instead of following Willowheart. If only I could have never gotten into that fight with her, if only, if only...
Suddenly a ruffling noise awoke him from his regrets.
" W- Willowheart? Drizzlingpaw? Dad?!" he called and raced toward the noise.
He had been blessed with expert hearing, and the noise was coming from the Shadowclan border.
Taking a flying leap he jumped the wide river and bolted even faster toward the noise, dodging every pine tree with such closeness they touched his bristling fur.
Suddenly he knocked into a cat, in fear that it was a Shadowclan patrol he yowled and leaped to his paws, lashing his half white tail in fury.
A startling beautiful she-cat about his own exact age stood before him, a mouse tail sticking out of her mouth. She had jet black fur, that glowed the deepest shade of purple in the silver moonlight. On her right flank were four white diamond shaped spots all formed together to make a diamond and on her chest was the same thing, but with one missing white diamond pattern. She had the most breath-taking teal blue eyes in the world, that glittered as they stared at Puddlepaw. She was small in size, but taller than his tiny sister, she had long legs despite her size, andw as equipped with a sleek, curvy muscular build.
She took one long look at him then finished her mouse.
Puddelpaw was in a trance, this she-cat was beautiful, but why did she not smell of any clan?
" Hey!" She giggled, " I am Starling."
Starling..The name fit her perfectly, she was as elegant and graceful as a starling.
" I am Puddlepaw of Riverclan," he said in a low voice, while swishing his tail back and forth.
" What's a Riverclan?" She asked and thingyed her head to one side, she was obviously a loner, for she did not smell of twolegs.
"Well, do you know anything about clans?"
She was about to answer when a tom with the same black pelt as hers, but with white rims around his tail, paws, and eyes appeared. He was just as perfect, strange as it was, and he had dark ivy green eyes.
Puddlepaw glared angrily at his paws. Starling already had someone to spend her life with.
" Puddlepaw, this is my brother." She purred.
The Riverclan apprentices ears shot up immideatley.
" Yeah, I'm her brother NightingGale." The tom spoke. His voice was just like his sisters. Soft, strangely kind, and silky like honey.
" Maybe," Starling batted her wide eyes at Puddlepaw, " You could teach us both.."
" Of course I can!" Puddlepaw shoved his chest out and strutted toward them.
*****
" Well, I guess we can see you next week.." NightingGale was clearly trying to think of a good time to see his friend Puddlepaw again.
" Yeah, " Puddlepaw chuckled, " No suspicions will turn up in my clan if I come every week."
" Really?" The black tom laughed, " Well then see you soon friend." He stretched forward to touch his cold nose into Puddlepaw's thick coat.
NightingGale gave a laugh then ran off into the forest, leaving his sister and Puddlepaw alone.
Starling's teal eyes glittered with fresh tears. Her lower lip trembled and her black-as-night paws shuffled on the ground, " Well I guess.. This is goodbye until next week. Puddlepaw."
Puddlepaw wanted to race forward and comfort her, but they were not that good of friends yet.
So Starling danced toward him and intertwined her long tail with his, " I will miss you, a lot."
Puddlepaw could hear the pain in her voice, it should have made him sympathize with her, but it made him happy that she liked him.
" I will miss you too, Starling, maybe I can meet you at the river tomorrow, just you and me." He smiled thingyily.
Starling's ears perked, " Oh yes!"
There was silence for a moment while the two cats stared longingly into each other's eyes, then Starling broke the silence.
" So Medicine cats can not have a mate, or kits?" She asked, trying to sound innocent. But Puddlepaw could almost taste the hint in her beautiful voice.
" Depends." He replied with a clever smile on his face.
" What do you mean?" Starling leaned in closer to him. Puddlepaw could feel her sweet smelling breath on his face.
" Well if you go against Starclan's will," He winked proudly at her, " Then it is perfectly fine."
" Ooh." She beamed at him. Puddlepaw thought his heart would melt her teeth were so perfect also.
" Well then till tomorrow, Puddlepaw."
" Yes, till tomorrow, my Starling."
She blushed and her tail slipped away from his.

Chapter 5 Midnight Meetings " Did you really think that..." the voice of a she-cat whispered softly, "...I was being truthful?" " Well yes..." replied the misery-filled voice of a tom, " I thought it.. I mean we.. were over. This time for good.." " But.." Her voice was cracking with grief. " I know.. I do not want it to be either, but we both have our duties.." " So!" her voice level was rising, " Since when has that mattered!?"A bit shocked by the hurt in her voice the ashy gray tom was for once left speechless. She was right and he knew it too, but why could he not understand?
" Crowfeather..." her voice grew into a purr and the beautiful tabby shifted closer to him, filling his nostrils with her intoxicating scent, " If what you say is really what your heart believes, then why did we both show up here tonight?"
Aw foxdung! The tom sighed in his mind, this beautiful she-cat was more clever than the slyest fox. She was so right, it pained him to look into those wide, innocent, amber eyes of hers.
" My heart.." he began.
Eagerly awaiting his reply, her neck strained closer.
" My heart, no. All of me, every hair, every claw, every tooth, every part of me Leafpool yearns to be with you. Every time I see you, my eyes blaze with a fire that is filled with love and passion, every time I smell you I just want to stay by your side forever, and every time I leave you I feel like I am killing myself to leave. " Pausing for a breath he looked into her eyes and say tears, " Leafpool, my heart does not beat for Feathertail.. It did once, but then I found you. Nor does my heart beat for Nightcloud, only you. I love you Leafpool. More then you know, but we cannot be together. I will meet you here every night for moons, we can be mates then. But not in broad daylight.."
Two hearts seperated by a force, known only by the name of the Warrior Code, became one once more. This time forever.
" That is all I could ever ask for.. And more, my Crowfeather." sobbed the dainty medicine cat into his rugged pelt. Comforted by his presence and love.
" Shhh.. just relish in this precious time we have this night." soothed the tom, the tears that streamed down his lovers face now poured down his. It was not fair that they could not be together.
Only an hour later their tears had dried and they were talking.
" So you are the big deputy now, am I right?" purred Leafpool. An unmistakable glimmer of pride for her mate twinkled in those starry-eyes.
" Oh yeah!" chuckled the WindClan deputy.
" How is it going for you?"
" Being deputy or the clan?"
" Both, you silly furball!"
" The clan is doing..." his joyful meow had deepened into a low whisper, " WindClan is struggling..."
" What?!" gasped the panicked she-cat.
" Well, you know..." he sighed, " Onestar is dying, and the clan population is already so small. If more kits do not come soon, we will only be half the size of Shadowclan!"
Leafpool shook her head and gazed up at Crowfeather with pleading eyes, "Please can we talk about how much you love being a deputy?"
" Sure." mrrowed the tom, " It is great I love it and cannot wait to become leader."
Leafpool giggled and the pair twined tails.
" Mousedung."
" What is it?"
" Sunrise. We must go home now.."
" Don’t worry, I am not leaving you entirely Leafpool."
" I know. Bye Crowfeather, until night comes."
Their amber and gray pelts brushed together as they said their sad goodbyes. StarClan.. Thought the tom as he watched the medicine cat’s tail disappear. How can I love a cat this much?
As he turned around toward home he froze. Realization set in on him.. If he became leader, he would have nine lives, and Leafpool would be forever aging.
Horror seized his heart. What if Leafpool died.. before him? While he lived on with how ever many lives he had left.

Thanks for the replies! Snowflower- Om my golly thank you sooo much for putting that and I will! Ravenstar- Anything is possible when it is a fanfic! Pouncer- Yeah I know, but it was the only easy way to actually kill him off, cause I just cannot see him dying in a battle or from a sickness.
