Author's Notes: I wrote this on a different site but it is now modified.
Firestar walks out of his make-shift den at the Sunningrocks. It is almost Moon-high but he isn't waiting for anyone, except for someone who might never see Firestar again. No other cat is awake. The Clan is doing their best to sleep in the hard rocky crevices.
The wind ruffles his ginger fur, and his lean muscles help him climb to the highest rock. No other cat can reach him. He can see far into the forest and across RiverClan territory, and beyond that, WindClan. ShadowClan is to far away for him to see anything. His green eyes, the color of Green leaf trees, watch over his Clan. But his thoughts are faraway. Far, far, away.
Firestar flicks his eyes upward to wards the moon. Most of it is bathed in darkness, but it is almost at the half moon.
As Firestar watches the moon he is thinking this:
The moon seems bluer, more tearful than it has been any other night. Does it know of my loss? Does it know of the Two-leg cruelty? Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. There is no way to know. Things of old are gone, Fourtrees, our camp, my friend. But he is gone now, my deputy is. But I will not appoint a new deputy, because he is not dead! How could he be? We have been through so much...together. Together. The word hurts now, as if it knows that we are nowhere near each other. But it is true, we have been through much, oh so much. When I joined the Clan, when we became warriors, our first warrior mission, ShadowClan's attack, BloodClan's attack, everything. But it is gone now. Hear yowl to StarClan, what I want everyone to hear! But I must not speak, for the wellbeing of my Clan. But still...Graystripe! Come back! Please, come back. I love you so much, Graystripe...
Firestar slumps down, and falls asleep, lonely. He is restless, and his dreams are full of the horror of what had happened.
