Prologue[/u]

"Beware the one with fire in her eyes.."

"What do you mean?" An orange tabby cat yowled. "Tell me!" It raced over to a cat with star dusted fur, but it faded into the blackness.

The cat yowled as it felt the ground underneath it give way. She flailed her legs, her mouth open in a silent howl for help. She smelt a hot stank of something, and then she looked down. A river of blood welled up around her, choking her. . .

"Creekstar!"

Creekstar's eyes flew open, and the aroma of blood wisped around her den. She gasped for breath, sucking it in as if she hadn't ever before.

"Are you alright?" A golden tom asked, his eyes wide with fear. His fur was fluffed out, and her ears were glued to his head.

Creekstar panted and smoothed out her fur in fast, sharp licks. "I don't know. . Ever since Finchstar was murdered, Lionstep, I- I've been having these dreams."

Lionstep opened his mouth to say something, but a yowl echoed around camp. Creekstar leaped up and pelted outside and into the nursery. Sageclaw panted, put purred as she looked down at two kits. Silverspirit, the medicine cat, gave her a friendly nudge.

A brown black tom crashed into the nursery, his eyes wide with fear. "I. . I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to - I mean, I didn't come back in time-"

Sageclaw silenced her mate by placing her tail over his mouth. "It's okay, Ratpelt."

Creekstar was about to congratulate Sageclaw, but she hissed. One of the kits, a pitch black she-kit opened her small eyes, the color of flame. Beware the one with fire in her eyes. . .

Creekstar stared at her.

"What.. what is it?" Sageclaw asked, her eyes widening.

Creekstar shook her head. "N- Nothing." She smiled and backed out of the den, signaling Lionstep to follow with a flick of her tail. Once they were outside, the evening cast a midnight blue glow on the camp around them.

"What was it?"

Creekstar hesitated. Is it really right to tell him? "I just. . . saw something in the corner of my eye. It was nothing."

Lionstep looked puzzled, but acknowledged her with a slow nod. "I'll go gather some cats for the last hunt of the day." He sped off, glancing a look at his leader before he disappeared into the warriors' den.

Creekstar looked up at the stars. "How can you make one thing so peaceful, a monster?"

Chapter One

Sunlight glittered through the den, and the scents of greenleaf quickly invaded Silverspirit's nose. She stretched luxuorisly, arching her back and yawning.

"You're a little late up, aren't you?"

Silverspirit layed her eyes on Creekstar. "Not everyone can get up as early as you," She hissed. "Now stop pestering me."

Creekstar twitched her whiskers. She always enjoyed her sister's attitude. "I don't think it's possible for anyone to be as grumpy as you. You're acting like a half starved badger!"

Silverspirit gave a hmph and strode past her leader, her head and tail held defiantly in the air.

Pounce . . . There was a flash of ginger tabby fur before Creekstar snagged her claws into a crow's wing. It squaked, sending the birds that sat in the branches fly off with an irritable chirping.

"Darn," Creekstar mumbled to herself, picking up the crow. She padded back to camp to be welcomed by a terrible wailing.

"My kits, My kits!" Goldenpoppy staggered out of the nursery, tears rolling down her cheeks.

Sageclaw rushed out of the warm, milk smelling den to comfort her. "It's okay, Goldenpoppy. The patrol will find them."

Goldenpopy didn't seem any happier. "They're to young to venture about by themselves . . ."

Lionstep jogged over to Creekstar. "Goldenpoppy's kits dissapeared, so I sent Thrushfur, Rushpaw, Whispertail, and Tanglefur to look for them. I would've gone myself, but I was
wai-"

Creekstar silenced her deputy by placing her tail tip on his mouth. "Thank you, Lionstep."

The golden tom nodded and sped off, Creekstar's eyes trailing behind him. Her gaze snapped over to the enterance when they heard a yowl. Thrushfur led the patrol into camp, Rushpaw, Tanglefur, and Whispertail each carrying a kit.

"Oh, thank you, thank you!" Goldenpoppy bounded over to the tiny balls of fur, covering them in relieved licks.

Ashkit sqirmed, mewling. "Momma?"

Goldenpoppy purred and pressed her warm cheek to her daughter's soft, dark gray one. "Shh.. Everything will be okay."

Bluekit wriggled out of Whispertail's grasp. "Momma, there was this b-big tomcat.. He was real see-through looking, and.. oh, he.. s-said if we didn't follow him.. he w-would tear us apart.."

Creekstar hissed. The image of a broad shouldered dark brown tabby tom with glinting, meniacle amber eyes. Tigerstar!

All of a sudden, the ginger tabby she-cat felt something barrel into her legs. Ravenkit looked up at her with her flame looking eyes, and Creekstar felt a wave of uneasiness crawl up her spine.

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" Sageclaw meowed, glaring down at her kit. "I told you to stay near the Nursery," She whispered, butting her kit over with her nose.

Creekstar pinned back her ears. Oh, StarClan, how can youmake something so small and helpless, a monster?

um . . . the spoilers part is where you write spoilers for WARRIORS, not your story. so like you might say "you have to have read past rising storm" or something like that. and was creekstar supposed to say basically the same thing to starclan at the end of the prologue and chapter 1?

Woohoo! This fanfic is ah-maaazing! I really love your talent for names, and the repetititon of the monster line is quite stirring.
My only problems... cats don't have tear-ducts which means they can't cry! lol, that is one of my number one pet peeves, so don't take it personally! This fic has a very hidden plot so far, and I love that, but maybe the chapters should be a little longer? You can really describe things, and I think you'll be a great author (if thats what you want to be =) )
