Author's Notes: This is a songfic set in the middle of one of my other (unwritten) fanfics. I like this song and I hope that you understand why I wrote this. The other fanfic in question has never been fully written down. It's being recorded now, by the members of When Thunder Was Lightning.
A black-spotted tan she-cat was fast asleep in the mess of reeds on the bottom of the RiverClan warriors' den. Suddenly, she raised her head, rapidly stretched, and suddenly stopped.
"Fleetfoot? Wildcloud? Would you mind coming with me for a minute?"
A large tom with fur nearly as red as blood had poked his head into the warriors' den. Both the spotted she-cat and another cat who had been sleeping nearby managed meows of assent, and followed the bloodred tom out of the camp. They didn't know it, but a young tabby she-cat with amber eyes was following them.
"Redstorm, where are we going?" asked the other cat with them, a small white she-cat with brown tabby spots. "Does Brightstar know about this?"
The bloodred tom- Redstorm- answered, "We're going to my special place where we can talk, Wildcloud. Brightstar does know about this, and she's perfectly fine with it. She never minds when I walk awhile with other cats."
She won't turn around.
The shadows are long and she fears if she cries
That first tear
The tears will not stop
Raining down.
The three cats arrived in a lovely glen. Fleetfoot looked around; it was quite lovely, but she had an awful feeling about it. Had this place seen horrible things?
Settling themselves in, the two she-cats had the opportunity to look more closely at what they saw. Fleetfoot noticed vaguely that Redstorm was standing motionless with his tail end pointing towards him, but she was more interested in what she had suddenly found on just one leaf in a bush behind her- a crust of dried blood. Her attention was pulled roughly back towards the deputy when he whipped around with a deadly sneer on his face and hissed horrible accusations at them, accusations neither fair nor true. "What?" yowled Fleetfoot. "No, we didn't!"
"DON'T LIE TO ME!" bellowed Redstorm, bringing his massive paw whipping around to crack on Fleetfoot's head. There was a flash of bright light, an instant of searing pain, and then the spotted she-cat fell to the ground.
In that same instant, Wildcloud threw herself at Redstorm. She ripped through the fur on his shoulder, fighting her hardest despite the fact that she was so much smaller than him.
Redstorm now seemed to feel Wildcloud's attack, and hissed, "Get away! Don't make me do to you what I've done to Fleetfoot!" He slashed at both the front and back of Wildcloud's neck, trying to get in a fatal blow.
Wildcloud was fighting desperately to get herself free. The only place in this glen that was even possible to get through was directly behind Redstorm.
Redstorm sent blows to Wildcloud's head and neck, over and over, over and over. The she-cat's wide eyes showed the pain and fear she was feeling as she fought her hardest. Maybe she could make it... but then Redstorm slashed her throat open. Both of the cats who had walked here with him would need to be dragged back. They were both dead.
When Redstorm pulled the two bodies back into the camp, a pair of apprentices were waiting for him, and one of them was the cat who had seen the murders. The two of them wailed their grief for the cats who had been killed, but they were doing something else, as well. The pink apprentice emboldened her loud but shy tabby friend, and they gathered together a coalition of cats they knew they could trust with the secret: Redstorm was a killer. A moon later, he had become Redstar, but they were ready to act. RiverClan overthrew its tyrant leader, and the deputy became leader instead. The Clan was safe and happy as had never been since Redstorm had been made a warrior.

Chapter 1
She never slows down.
She doesn't know why but she knows that when she's
All alone,
It feels like it's all
Coming down.

So stand in the rain!
Stand your ground!
Stand up when it's all crashing down!
You stand through the pain!
You won't drown,
And one day what's lost can be found,
So stand in the rain!
Stand your ground!
Stand up when it's all crashing down!
You stand through the pain!
You won't drown,
And one day what's lost can be found,
So stand in the rain!

She won't make a sound.
Alone in this fight with herself and the fears
Whispering,
If she stands,
She'll fall down.

She'll fall down.

She wants to be found.
The only way out is through everything she's
Running from,
Wants to give up
And lie down.

Running from,
Wants to give up
And lie down.
