Jaypaw was sorting herbs in the medicine cat's den, brow creased in concentration. It hadn't been a while since Cinderpaw had fell from the Sky Oak and joined Leafpool and himself in the den. She still slept in her nest, flank rising and falling with each breath she took.
"Jaypaw! Do you have the comfrey?" Called Leafpool. Sighing, Jaypaw yowled back, "I can't sort herbs and grab your comfrey at the same time. Be patient." She heard her mentor sigh in exasperation as she checked on Cinderpaw. The gray apprentice blinked her eyes open and looked up at Leafpool. "I remember," She meowed in a clear voice. "The badger attack.."
Jaypaw felt Leafpool stiffen in surprise. "You do?" His mentor breathed. The tom narrowed his eyes, reaching into her thoughts...
Cinderpelt remembered... it really was her.... but Jaypaw... no, it has to be Cinderpelt....
Jaypaw wondered what her confused thoughts meant. He shook his head furiously and grabbed Leafpool the comfrey. "Thank you, Jaypaw," She mewed to her apprentice. "Could you please leave me and Cinderpaw alone to talk for a moment?" Jaypaw blinked, suspicion rising in his chest. (I'll continue later. Dinner time.)
