Author's Notes: This is just some drabble I wrote on a whim. This is what I imagined Hawkfrost’s “traitor in your own clan” meant and how it happened. Please don’t criticize my opinion on what happened, I accept that this could very well be dead wrong. Well, enjoy.
"Ashfur!", yowled Birchpaw. "May I go over there to hunt on my own?"
The brown apprentice's mentor tilted his head. "I don't know, Bichpaw. You should stick with the hunting patrol."
"But I really wanna try it alone. I think I'm good enough. I promise I'll be safe!", Birchpaw pleaded. "Pleeease?
Ashfur sighed with defeat. "Okay, fine. Be safe, and report back here if you see anything unusual."
"Can do! Thank you, Ashfur!" And with that, the apprentice bounded off.

It was a bright, sunny day. Birchpaw had picked a field of tall grass to hunt in. His mind was full of excitement when he caught a sweet scent. Mouse!
The tom crouched down, ready to stalk his prey, when he caught a vastly different, unfamiliar scent upwind. Is that RiverClan scent?, he wondered. Just as he was about to turn around, a voice from behind him answered his question.
"Ah, Birchpaw. What are you doing, hunting alone?"
Birchpaw turned his head around quickly. He saw Hawkfrost, the fierce tabby warrior from RiverClan, standing behind him with an accusing gaze.
"I- The hunting patrol I was on... My mentor said I could.", Birchpaw stammered. "What are you doing on ThunderClan territory?"
Hawkfrost eased his harsh gaze on Birchpaw. "I was given permission from Leopardstar to meet a cat around here.", he mewed. The smaller tom doubted his story, but he saw no nervousness or signs of lying in the warrior, so he accepted the excuse. "But that's not important. I'm glad you're here."
Birchpaw couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated by Hawkfrost's presence; he did not feel safe alone with an enemy warrior. "Why? Is something wrong?"
"Oh, very much so. I saw a patrol of ShadowClan cats around your borders.", the tabby growled. "I think Blackstar's planning an invasion."
"What? No!", Birchpaw gasped. "I need to tell the patrol!"
"No, no!", Hawkfrost quickly added, confusing Birchpaw. "You must tell Firestar directly, and nobody else. Tell him to come here."
The apprentice still did not fully understand. "Oh... okay..."
"Go now," the RiverClanner said with a grin. "Firestar will reward you handsomely later for telling him."
Birchpaw's head shot up, his eyes full of excitement. "I'll go tell him right away! Thank you, Hawkfrost!"
As the ThunderClan apprentice ran off, Hawkfrost chuckled. "Perfect."
