This story goes really well with that song ''i'm just a kid'', i wrote this when listening to it!!!'
A lone kit shivered in the thundering rain, whimpering as it hit him. The she-cat in the trees watched him. She turned to leave, but found she couldn't. She had lost her own kits to greencough last year, and the only kit she had left was her young son, Soul kit. The leader would be so mad at her, they barely had enough prey for the clan already, but she couldn't let him starve... Looking from side-to-side, she picked up the crying kit in her mouth, and leapt through the dense barrier of trees guarding the forest. Little animals jumped out of the bushes in her way, but she couldn't hunt now.It was a sin to waste food like this;but what could she do? The river was swelling behind her, she could hear it coming. Her eyes grew wider, and her paws carried her faster and faster, on through darkening skies and abandoned clearings. It was behind her now, she leapt up to the cliff above her. The kit was flung from her mouth and onto the precipice. She now hung by her front paws. She knew it was over. Giving the kit a last tendet look, her strength waned, and she fell into the foaming mass of water below her.The kit started crying again. Three warriors from the near-by clan of Thunder, raced onto the scene. ''SandyShell,''one whispered. ''My beautifull she-cat.'' A big stripped tom patted him on the back, and said. ''She must have died protecting herself,'' ''How has the river swelled up this much?!!''the last, a female tabby, meowed anxiously. ''Don't worry, it's bound to go down soon.''the tom said. The first cat was shaking violently, his claws digging into the ground. A howl of misery escaped him. ''Come on, lets leave him for a bit,''the she-cat nodded, and the left him. Sandyshell's mate, RavenWolf, cried silently, and looked up to the moon. ''Why, why!Starclan, why me!!!''he watched the river wash away the spot where him and his mate had first fallen in love. The trees were cracked and broken, the flowers washed away. Depressing bits of mud and grimy clods of earth lay on the rock where he ahd asked her to be his mate. Just then he noticed a squeak. A kit! This was what she had been protecting, he was sure of it. Firmly, he took the kit in his jaws and made a promise, then and there, taht this kit, along with Soulkit, would be his life, and then he headed back to Thunderclan.
