Prologue
"Mother, who was Rabbitstar?"asked Amberkit. A harsh leaf-bare wind blew over the Riverclan nursery before the kits mother replied.
"Well, she is your ancestor,and right now she's watching over us from silverpelt, with all the other brave cats of the past."
"Wow!," Amberkit said in awe,"What did she do that was great?"
"She...Are you ready for a story Amberkit, a long one? Amberkit nodded excitedly, she loved stories.
"Okay then. It is said she told her story from Starclan to her good friend, a medicine cat and this is how she told it...
Chapter 1
I looked uncertainly at the group of cats below me. A sigh escaped my maw. I wonder if they'll let me join their Clan? Slowly, I walked down the steep river bank to the camp. No cat saw me,yet. "Excuse me," I coughed softly. Still no body stirred from the clan meeting. A kit darted out from the nursery, tiring to get involved in the meeting. A queen quickly fallowed in pursuit meowing "Starlingkit,come back! Tricklestar I'm so sorry!" Starlingkit had already stopped and was staring in awe at me. "Who are you?"the kit asked.
"Good question," inverted Tricklestar,"Who are you and why are you here. I hope you know you just interrupted a warrior ceremony."
"No.. I'm sorry..."a sudden flurry of nervousness stopped me talking," I..I'm .. my name is Rabbitclaw and your actually going to think I'm crazy" I finished in a flurry.
"Try me," challenged Tricklestar calmly.
I took a deep breath "I came to join your clan,if you'll have me. I've already been at least half-way trained so you wouldn't have to worry about a teach-... i mean mentor." Tricklestar looked thoughtful, he had enough warriors. The cats there seemed puzzled at what was going on, and a many of them whispered to others.
"Let me finish the ceremony and then we'll talk in my den." I gave a curt nod to acknowledge his decision. Some warriors looked outraged he would even consider letting me join the clan. Others looked eager for a new cat to join Riverclan, after all they knew every cat there. I waited as patiently as possible,feeling very awkward, considering I couldn't cheer for the new warriors.
Soon I was in Tricklestar's den. I was hoping against hope he would let me be a Riverclan warrior. A sense of peace entered me some how. A voice whispered in my ears and a soft pelt brushed mine."All will be fine," then the presence was gone and nervousness filled my heart with a twisting feeling. Tricklestar sat down with his tail neatly over his paws. Silence fallowed.
"You seem too young to be feeling so much fear,"he mewed in a kindly voice. "Some times I think so too," I laughed quietly,"Being a rouge does that to you."
"Starclan spoke to me a while ago,they gave my medicine cat and I a prophecy, and I think it's starting to make sense. You will join my clan and learn from us to touch up on your skills,"
At this I'm sure my green eyes shone with joy. I lept up and meowed with all the gratitude I could muster. " You have no idea how much I thank you!"sudden shyness stopped me from talking,"Were shall I sleep?"
"In the medicine cats den for now," was his short reply, it was obvious he was thinking hard.
I was rushed out of the den. Cats peered curiously at me,but soon I was in the medicine cat den. Sudden tiredness hit me and vaguely i was guided to a sleeping spot."Thank you.." I murmured to the other cat in the dark moonlight. But I wasn't awake for a reply.A soft darkness enveloped me and the voice from earlier said "Welcome to the clans...."
