Authors Note: So you are not confuzzled, I will tell you that leaders names DO NOT end with star, instead they end with moon. This is because I thought Medicine cats deserved star at the end, plus, its interesting. And this is my first Fan- Fic ever, just so you would know.
A yellow cat padded through a snowy forest. Pine trees towered over her like sky scrapers, and the snow was spotted with orange pine needles. A thick mist hovered in the air, and the wind was strangely still. The she-cat was having trouble traveling through the thick snow, which came up to the middle of her chest. It was one of the biggest snows she had ever encountered in her many moons of life, and the thick clouds from the past few days threatened to make it bigger.
This leaf-bare had damaged her Clan terribley. Every cats ribs were showing horribly, and the queens had to eat what few borage leaves(which help queens give milk) could be found, which was very few. Cats were dying of greencough, cold, and hunger, and she was powerless, in fact greencough had just taken her leaders last life making her the new leader. The Clan was constantly depressed, and she did all she could to cheer them up, but she herself was begining to lose hope. She knew that if this continued for much longer, her Clan would be extinct. The same was happening to the other Clans too, so at least there werent any battles to weaken her Clan more.
She continued to tromp through the snow and mist, wondering where she was. She was as lost as a kit from FireClan in EarthClan's Nursery. She looked to the sky, begging MoonClan to help her, telling them she needed to help her Clan survive, not trudge through the snow waiting for death. She stared for a few heart beats, then sighed, and started to begin her journey.
Suddenly, the mist cleared, and the clouds disappeared, revealing Silverpelt, home of her ancestors. She sighed happily, how much she had missed the stars! She was so happy that the stars looked closer and the stars seemed to move. She felt her heart skip a beat, the stars were moving, and they were closer. She gasped as they began to swirl around and around, coming closer and closer until they were all around her, then they stopped. The stars dimmed to reveal several cats with pelts that seemed to have pieces of the stars in them. One of them, a white tom with yellow eyes, stepped forward, his eyes shining with happiness, and a bit of sorrow.
" Whitemoon!" the she-cat cried happily. "It's so good to see you!" She ran up to him and touched his muzzle to hers, purring. She was glad to see her former leader was now healthy looking, and his eyes were bright and filled with joy for the first time in moons.
"Hello Brightpelt, we are here to give you your nine lives, and welcome you as the new leader of FireClan!" meowed Whitemoon, the other cats around him murmured with agreement, approving Whitemoon's choice of deputy.
" I give you the life of courage," meowed Whitemoon proudly."Use it to protect your clan from danger and keep them alive." He touched her forehead, and a strong pain flowed through her unexpectedly. She staggered slightly, but as Whitemoon walked away, she made a mental note to suspect it next time.
This continued seven more times, each more painful than the last. Finally, it was over, and the surrounding cats began chanting Brightpelt's new name.
"Brightmoon! Brightmoon!" they called, and Brightmoon swelled with pride, vowing to protect her Clan from all harms, no matter what the cost.
"Welcome Brightmoon, as leader of FireClan!" meowed Whitemoon, and the cats cheered, chanting her name.
Suddenly, they disaperred, and the chanting stopped. Everything went dark, and all Brightmoon could see were her fore paws.
" Where are you?" she cried, thrashing her head about, desperatly looking for her ancestors. But no one answered, and nothing appeared. She was alone, and lost once again. She felt like clawing the air with frustration. Suddenly, snow appeared all around her, and she saw something bright ahead of her. It flickered, and seemed to be calling to her, telling her to come closer. Cautiously, Brightmoon padded forward, slowly coming towards the light.
Many heart beats later, she gasped, stunned by what she saw. Flames. But that wasn't what surprised her. The snow was flamming without melting. And to add to that, the flames were electric blue that burned her eyes. She stepped back a few steps, then crept forward again. Soon she was only a tail length away from the dazzling flames, and began wondering how the snow wasn't melting.
Am I somehow dreaming a normal dream? she thought, because this couldn't be real. And why would MoonClan show her this?
She cried and jumped back at something that appeared in the middle of the flames. Eyes. A pair of flame colored eyes were floating in the middle of the flames with a look of pure fury. They looked at Brightmoon, and the flames got bigger, and the eyes began to turn red.
" When the snow is flaming the Clans can be saved...."
The voice ran through her head, and Brightmoon knew it was a prophecy. And as the prophecy had been recited, the flames died down, and the eyes turned orange again, having a peaceful look in them. Brightmoon stared at them. When the snow is flaming? And hedgehogs fly! she thought, confused. She knew snow melted when put in fire, how could it be flaming?
" Or destroyed forever..."
Brightmoon shrieked as the eyes turned red and the flames seemed to touch the sky. Suddenly BOOM! The flames exploded and Brightmoon shut her eyes as she was engulfed with them. Had she of had them open, she might of seen the pair of amber eyes peering at her through the flames, then disappear.
