The sun shone down into Thunderclan camp, spreading its warm beams over the peaceful cats. It was the middle of green-leaf, and everyone was somewhat happy. Sorreltail and Brakenfur were laying side by side near the nursery, quietly sharing a plump thrush together.
A tabby she-cat emerged out of the medicine cat den, carrying several herbs in her mouth. Leafpool had not been having a good day. First off, Ferncloud came flying at her, all in a panic, forced her to run to the nursery and ‘save Birchkit from certain death’. all he had was a running nose. Leafpool snorted. A running nose? In the middle of green-leaf? Not likely…
Next, Thornclaw staggered into the medicine cats den and collapsed into a wailing heap on the ground. All he’d done was stand on a sharp rock, cutting his paw pad very softly. Leafpool sighed and set the herbs down. Her gaze wandered over to Cloudtail and Brightheart, their pelts brushing, eyes gleaming, expressions so content. Why couldn’t she feel that way? Because she had chosen the path of a medicine cat. Cinderpelt passed her, flashing a tired look at Leafpool.
Seeing as she had nothing better to do, Leafpool padded over to the fresh-kill pile, which would probably feed ten clans, and picked up a large mouse. Settling down near the medicine cats’ den, she began to eat. That was when her amber eyes caught sight of two cat, one golden, the other tortishell, next to each other by the nursery.
A burning anger, none like she had ever felt, spread over Leafpool, raging through her body, burning her mind. Why? The golden tom had never done anything to her…Yes he had. Leafpool’s vision traveled over to the tortishell, and a completely different emotion flooded through her.
Softness, vivid pastel colours, sweet velvet, engulfing …love. Leafpool daren’t admit it, but she had feelings, stronger than any other cat’s in the forest. Her silky tri-coloured fur, dappled under the sunlight shining through the leaves, Leafpool had to hold herself back from rushing over to Sorreltail and burying her face in her pelt.
Leafpool loathed Brakenfur. He ruined life for her. Sorreltail had once been her best friend, doing everything together, even though Leafpool was a medicine cat, Sorreltail still spent as much time with her as possible. Now, he had come. Brakenfur. The name disgusted Leafpool, it tasted bitter on her tongue.
“He stole her heart…” Leafpool growled, clawing the soft grass.
“What did you say Leafpool? He sold air art?”
Leafpool snapped back to real life. Cinderpelt was staring puzzled at her, frowning.
“Oh no, I said ‘He stepped on a rock’. I was thinking of Thornclaw, earlier on, he stepped on a sharp rock.” Leafpool explained very fast.
“Oh. Well, okay then…” Cinderpelt muttered, limping across the clearing.
Leafpool knew that ‘He stole her heart’ sounded nothing like ‘He stepped on a rock’, but she had to say something. Sighing, she sat back down and gazed at the light cloudless blue sky. It would have calmed her, but didn’t. Envious feelings flickered through her mind, twisting her head into a whirl of fury.
She had to do something. Brakenfur would pay for stealing her love. Even thought it was absurd for a she-cat to love a she-cat, Leafpool was sure it could work. Inside her brain, jealous thoughts began to work together, forming a plan. Tomorrow night, Leafpool thought, that was when it would happen.
Leafpool dozed around camp, any cat who glanced upon her would have seen a light tabby she-cat, innocent and sweet, happily enjoying her life. But that was all a mask. Inside, Leafpool churned with hate, violence, and above all, envy, defeating the nice emotions and replacing them with evil. Leafpool didn’t like to think that she was evil, like Tigerstar, anyway, she wasn’t going to do anything like he had, right?

The sky darkened for the evening, sending Thunderclan to their dens, ending the day. Silverpelt glittered above, sending whirls of lighting into Thunderclan camp. The moon sparkled in the blackened sky, settling the cats into their dreams. Leafpool curled up and closed her eyes, swimming away into sleep…
The tabby she-cat raced through the forest, amber eyes flashing. Leafpool vaguely recognized the trees as the old forest: she was running thought Thunderclan’s’ old territory. Picking her way down the ravine, Leafpool was surrounded by starry cats. A large white tom with kind amber eyes drifted out of the circle, landing silently in front of her.
“Greeting, young one. I am Whitestorm.” He purred, his voice strong and experienced.
Whitestorm…that sounded familiar…Of course! He was Sorreltail’s father! Leafpool’s fur grew hot. This tom probably knew about her secret love for his daughter. And her plans to kill her mate. Leafpool shifted uncomfortably.
“Shall we go for a walk?” Whitestorm asked her, without waiting for an answer, bounded across the ground with hidden power, beckoning for Leafpool to follow.

“So, I see you are close with Sorreltail, hm?” He mewed as they strolled along.
Leafpool nodded uncertainly.
“Are you sure its just close friends?”
Leafpool lashed her tail.
“Why do you want to know?” She hissed.
The white tom gave a throaty laugh.
“Oh…Don’t fret Leafpool, its perfectly alright to love a cat of the same gender.” He chuckled.
Leafpool stared at him, bewildered.
“No it isn’t! Its silly! Obscene! Any sane cat would reject the idea immediately!” She stuttered.
Whitestorm laughed again. Leafpool narrowed her eyes. This tom was getting rather annoying.
“Ah, but are you any sane cat?” He questioned, a spark of humor in his gold eyes.
Leafpool sniffed. Whitestorm’s smile enlarged.
“Is it really silly? Obscene, as you say? It isn’t, little one, you see, many have loved another tom or she-cat, when they are a tom or she-cat themselves! Even I did once. But, no one has ever been brave enough to admit it!” He meowed heartily.
Leafpool was now thinking that this tom was very annoying. She still couldn’t think of anything to retort back at him, but then a question stuck her.
“Even you did once? Who?” Leafpool suddenly was interested. Maybe the tom that Whitestorm had loved was still alive, and had another mate.
Whitestorm’s eyes clouded for a heartbeat, but cleared quickly.
“Ah, but you wouldn’t have known him, he died long before you were born, I was only a young warrior, a foolish tom, I thought he was the finest warrior ever born, but then he died. I mourned with everyone, but I felt more grief than ever. So, that just goes to show what heartbreak can do to you. But, I had kits with Willowpelt, whom I love dearly, and won’t ever stop loving both of them, tom and she-cat.”
Leafpool seemed to understand now. She smiled slightly, the tomcat wasn’t annoying after all.
“So…is it really alright?” Leafpool asked.
“Of course!”
“So…you don’t mind if I love your daughter?”
“No, no dear, but remember, she has feelings for Brakenfur. If you tell her, you will be one of the bravest cats born, but the stakes are high. She might end up hating you.” Whitestorm warned.
Leafpool opened her mouth to reply, but Whitestorm was fading away…so were her surroundings, spreading her into darkness…
Leafpool awoke with a start. The sun was already high in the sky, and Cinderpelt was standing over her, confused.
Leafpool quickly pulled herself up, hoping she hadn’t said anything that Cinderpelt was not to hear. There was an awkward silence until Cinderpelt shrugged and walked away.
Leafpool decided to go for a walk. She wandered around, coming to the lake. We could do with some marigold…She thought, spotting some gold leaves a little ways away. Or maybe we had enough…She considered, turning back around.
Suddenly, Leafpool heard a noise, almost like running. She pricked her ears and tried to figure out where the sound was coming from. It was getting louder, what ever it was. Leafpool padded over to the trees and could just make out a tortishell she-cat racing towards her. With a jolt, Leafpool realized: it was Sorreltail.
Sorreltail didn’t seem to see Leafpool, and was running straight at her.
“Sorre-” Leafpool started, but Sorreltail bashed into her and sent them both flying. They landed in a brown, ginger and white heap next to the lake, Sorreltail laughing.
“What’s so funny?” Leafpool asked.
Sorreltail’s laughter grew louder.
“Its just that…your face was so funny when I crashed into you!” She spluttered.
Leafpool frowned, but enjoyed being so close to Sorreltail. Maybe now was the time to tell her. Leafpool carefully planned what to say, then attempted to move. Sorreltail, however, was still in a laughing fit and laying on top of her.
“Sorreltail, I need to move.” Leafpool mewed.
Sorreltail didn’t move. Leafpool decided to tell her now.
“Sorreltail? I need to tell you something.”
Sorreltail stopped for a second and looked at Leafpool with huge eyes.
“Um…well, you see…” Leafpool’s plan had vanished.
“Leafpool, I may be very wrong, but are you confessing something?”
“Well, the thing is, but uh…”
Sorreltail swept her tail over Leafpool’s mouth.
“I love you too.” She whispered.
Please tell me if you like it, hate it (NOT because of the slash), or think its silly.
