The night. If it was one thing Brokentail loved it was the night. It was the perfect time to do something without someone knowing. A perfect time to get away with something.
And that was exactly what Brokentail was going to do.
His father, Raggedstar had just left with a patrol to do a late night check on the boundary, apparently ThunderClan had been there.
Brokentail knew it was going to be easy. You may guess that it would be hard when he had a patrol with him, but what Raggedstar didn't know is that it its extremely easy to be assassinated while you were next to a Thunderpath filled with Twoleg Monsters.
Brokentail's plan was simple, fight his father out into the Thunderpath while a Monster came by. Then, well... You can kind of guess the rest. With the cover of night, they patrol would not know it was him. They would think of him as a rogue since he had just finished disguising his scent as a rogue in the Carrionplace, a place full of real rogues.
~*.*~
Brokentail was ready. The patrol had just stopped directly ahead and were investigating the Thunderpath Border. It was time. Brokentail edged closer and began to spring for a pounce. He got ready and... Jumped.
Chaos at first, death second, just the way Brokentail planned it. As soon as the patrol looked to see the commotion, Brokentail was well on the way of slaying his father.
Brokentail slashed with his frontpaw, catching part of the neck of Raggedstar. It was then the blood began to spill. Raggedstar could easily see now it was his own son attacking him. But he did not cry out. He knew that he was also, on his last life. Raggedsar saw the plan in his son's actions. A slaughter by the Twoleg's Monsters. Raggedstar knew what he needed to do, put his son in the way.
They fought on until they reached the black of the Thunderpath. The rest of the patrol was still in shock but were trying to help Raggedstar. But they were stopped by Boulder, who was distracting them so that Brokentail could go through with the kill, undisturbed. Suddenly Raggedstar shoved Brokentail out into the Thunderpath. He could see the monster, its bright eyes glowing yellow with greed. Brokentail thought fast. There were loose little black pebbles all over the path. Brokentail took a mouthful of them and tried not to gag. He spit them at his father who was blinded for a second. He then rushed around his father and pushed him into the Thunderpath, right as the Monster went by. Perfect time, perfect kill.
The Monster went thump and Twolegs came out. But Brokentail didn't get to see the rest because he ran out of the scene and back into the cover of the night.
