CHAPTER 17
"This way," Rockstar whispered to the cats behind him. Pelt bristling with tension, he led his clan into BloodClan territory. The stink of the evil cats hit Rockstar's mouth. He had to stop himself from coughing it out.
Rockstar shivered with fear as they traveled deeper into BloodClan territory. Then he remembered his lost friend, Echosong, who was killed by Fire. He felt the uncontrollable rage burn in his stomach. He couldn't wait to get his claws into the murderer's fur. Rockstar unsheathed his claws, scoring the dirt.
Skaking his head, he followed the scent of the BloodClan cats. It grew stronger and stronger, until the scent was over powering. Rockstar stopped. It didn't make any sence. There were no signs of a camp anywhere. Only the horrible scent of the BloodClan cats ligering in the air. Suddenly Rockstar realized what was happening. He had led his clan to an ambush!
Drawing in a breath he yowled. "Attac-" he was cut off as a cat lept out of the bushes. Cats poured out behind him. The clearing was suddenly filled with fighting cats.
Hissing, he tried to claw at the cat's throat, until the cat backed off him. Immediately Rockstar got up and realized who the cat was.
"Fire!" he spat. The brown cat's blood-red eyes burned with hatred. "I warned you," he hissed. "No one passes without being killed."
Fire lept, aiming for Rockstar's neck, but Rockstar was ready. He sprung up and met the cat in middair. Fire hissed in surprise as they hit the ground. Rockstar pinned him down. He was about to bite into his throat when he froze. The memory of Skywatcher flashed into his mind. "He is your father," Skywatcher's voice echoed in his ears.
Gaining strenth, Fire barrled Rockstar off of him. Rockstar landed witha thud, breath-less. Fire lept on to him and bit down hard on his shoulder. Letting out a yowl of fury and pain, Rockstar slashed Fire's eyes. Blinded, he stumbled back.
Rockstar looked around the clearing. Cherryatil battled with a huge black tom, with Snowpaw by her side. Patchfoot fought with a snow-white she-cat. Suddenly the breath was knocked out of him. Fire pinned him down, growling. Rockstar scratched at his stomach, but he couldn't throw him off. Fire lunged at his throat.
Rockstar felt teeth meet his throat. Pain stabbed at him until his vision darkened. He gasped for air as he felt Fire let go. "We are never beaten," he hissed into the SkyClan leader's ear. "Never," he rasped weakly. Fire's weight was gone, and Rockstar fell into darkness.
Rockstar opened his eyes. The cats of BloodClan and SkyClan were gone, but he saw the shimmering cats of StarClan around him. He scrambled up.
Skywatcher padded over to him. "You have lost a life, Rockstar," he rumbled. Rockstar felt a shiver trail down his spine like an ice cold claw. "Send me back," he demanded. "My clan needs me."
"Patience," Skywatcher meowed. "Your body needs to recover."
Rockstar kneaded the ground with his paws. For what felt like moons he stood there, uuntil Skywatcher broke the silence.
"You may go back now, and my strenth go with you." His voice faded into the wind, and the cats disappeared.
Rockstar woke to see the clearing again. Yowling cats still filled the air. Scrambling up, he searched for Fire. He found him fighting with Songbreeze.
"Fire!" he hissed.
Fire turned to him, eyes lighting up in surprise. Shaking it off, he lept at Rockstar.
Rockstar aimed a blow at his shoulder. He felt flesh tear beneath his claws, and suddenly rage filled his mind.
He battled with Fire furiously, until he was too weak to pin him down. "I don't know how you survived," he spat at Rockstar. His white fangs gleamed in front of him. "but I'll make sure you don't survive this time," Fire lunged at his throat again. His plan had failed. Rockstar prepared himself to meet StarClan again.
Suddenly Fire's weight vanished. Rockstar opened his eyes and got up. Where had he gone? Then he saw.
Fire and a silvery white cat battled next to him. Rockstar's breath caught his throat as he recodnised the cat. It was Cloudmoon!
Her body was covered in terrible wounds, but she had pinned Fire down. He hissed furiously. "You will never hurt another cat again," Cloudmoon hissed, her blood dripping onto Fire. She bit down on his throat. Blood sprayed from Fire's throat. Fire gasped, blood pouring out of his throat. Using his last scrap of strenth, he slashed at Cloudmoon. Fire's claws met her throat, and she fell back. Fire let out one more shudder, and layed still. Fire was dead.
Seeing B Fire, the cats of BloodClan froze. "Fire is dead!" they yowled in horror. Immediately the cats scatterd, leaving the SkyClan cats in the clearing.
Rockstar scrambled over to Cloudmoon. Blood poured from the wound in her throat. "Cloudmoon!" Rockstar yowled. She opened her eyes.
"Rockstar," she rasped. "I couldn't let Fire kill you."
Rockstar whimpered. "Please don't die," he pleaded.
She twitched her tail. "Fire has caused enough trouble. I couldn't let him harm any cats anymore."
Rockstar shivered, and his voice shook. "Please don't die," he cried again.
She closed her eyes. "Tell my kits that I say good-bye," she mewed.
"No!" he yowled, but it was too late. Cloudmoon sighed, and then layed still. His yowling had gathered the clan around him.
"What happened?" Cherrytail whispered.
"She saved my life," he mewed simply. "Fire would have killed me. But she ponced on him and killed him. But then Fire aimed a blow at her throat and..." he looked away as yowls of grief filled the clearing. The yowls quieted down as Songbreeze padded to Rockstar.
"The prophecy," he whispered. "The clouds had extinguished the flames. Cloudmoon had killed Fire."
Rockstar gasped. The ominous prophecy suddenly made sence, as Songbreeze had pointed out. Clouds have extinguished the flames, but the rain had poured from them, making the clouds vanish.
Trembling he got up. "The clan will stay here while Songbreeze and I fetch the kits. Then we will head for the mountains. The clan murmered in agreement, and together, medicine cat and leader, padded throught the trees.
Rockstar and Songbreeze emerged though the bushes into the hiding camp, where Cloudmoon's kits were asleep. Heart aching, he nudged the kits with his paws. "Moonkit, Icekit, Lightningkit, wake up," he meowed. They looked up and looked around. They suddenly scrambled to their paws. "Where's mother?" Lightningkit wailed. "She was here when we fell asleep."
Rockstar's throat tightened.
"I'm so sorry," he breathed. "Cloudmoon is dead."
The kits eyes widened, and they fell silent. Gently, Rockstar picked up up Icekit and Songbreeze picked up Lightningkit. Moonkit stared up at them, her eyes sad. The cats padded out of the clearing, Moonkit behind them.
They returned to the clearing as the sun rose above the horizon. The cats of his clan had buried Cloudmoon, and were ready to go.
"Lets go," Rockstar meowed, and they padded away from the bloody clearing and towards the mountains.
Woah! Part two of the story is done! o.O Surprising, right?
