SUMMARY: (I'll try, but this story is very long) Icekit wants nothing more then to be the best warrior possible along with her best friend, Lightningkit. It is the day of a tragety where everything changes. Icekit is faced with unbearable challenges through apprenticeship and warriorship, and when she least expects it, a mystery is revealed. Icekit is forced to make the hardest desition of her life. Stay with her clan, or leave?

PROLOUGUE:

The stars in the sky shined like tiny snowflakes speckling the black sky. They sparkled brightly with pulsating light. Below, a small clearing held a pool small pool. It shimmered with the light of the reflected stars. A trickle of water from a rock above fed the pool with liquid moonshine.
The stars above pulsated brighter and brighter until the stars started pouring from Silverpelt in small clusters. As the shapes got closer, they grew clearer. They were the shapes of cats, hundreds of sparkling cats. They all gathered around the pool, and stood silently until every last cat was around the pool. The clearing there shined like day, but the sky was nearly pitch black except for the moon.
One cat, resembling a dark tabby tom, stood up and turned to the cats who watched him. He opened his mouth to speak.
"The time has come," he meowed, his deep voice echoing against the rocks. "We all know great change is coming. Those chosen will have to have great courage to meet the crisis coming. We must be brave as well. This evil can be met. They are strong. We must have faith in them. They have always had faith in us."
Anxious murmurs stirred from cats. One cat asked the tom, "But Bramblestar, what if they fail?"
"Then we must be prepared, Leafpool," he answered. "If they fail, we must warn the clans."
The small tabby padded out of the crowd to sit next to the tabby tom. She whispered into his ear. "What if it's not enough?" Bramblestar shook his head, not knowing the answer. He licked her ear gently and the tabby padded back into the crowd.
Bramblestar gazed over the pelts of hundreds of cats. "We must be strong. A time of evil is coming, but we are not without hope. We must have faith that these cats will defeat the evil."
Every cat was silent fora few heartbeats. Bramblestar knew he had to advise them of the other side. "If they do fail, the clans must fight off the evil. We must hope that the clans are strong enough." Bramblestar turned around and whispered under his breath. "Because if they aren't, the clans will be destroyed forever."
No cat heard his side comment. Bramblestar padded into the crowd to sit next to Leafpool. Every cat in the clearing started to get up. Then they followed the starry path they took back the sky. Their paws made a whisper that sounded like a gentle wind blowing over the moor. Soon the clearing was empty. Only Bramblestar and Leafpool remained.
"Do you really think they're strong enough?" Leafpool whispered.
"I don't know," he whispered back. He started to twine her tail with his. "But I hope so with all of my heart."
"Me too," she mewed.
"This is not the end, my love," he purred quietly. Leafpool closed her eyes and pressed her pelt to his. The two starry cats got up and padded onto the starry path. Leafpool looked back once more, her eyes filled with anguish. Then she followed Bramblestar into the sky.

CHAPTER 1

Sleep and tiredness lay heavily on Icekit. She rolled over in her nest. Moss stuck to her back, but she was too tired to care. Icekit curled up into a tight ball and tucked her white nose under her paw.
Icekit was a silver tabby she-cat with white stripes and crystal blue eyes. No one knew where the kit came from. They had found her abandoned in the forest soon after birth. She had barley lived the trekk back to the camp. Luckally at the time, one queen named Petalfall had just given birth to a kit, and was happy to take in another. Her kit's name is Lightningkit, who is also Icekit's best friend.
Lightningkit was a light brown tabby tom with amber eyes. He was son of Darkstar, an ambitious cat who tried to kill Flamestar, ThunderClan's leader. Now the cat was dead, but his son was alive. Not many cats trusted the kit because of his father. In fact, only Icekit, Flamestar, Rainclaw, the deputy, Petalfall, and the medicine cats trusted the young kit. All of the other cats in the clan hated him.
Icekit rolled over again. She was just about to sink into a comfortable sleep when a paw prodded at her side. Icekit jumped, immedately awake, and spun around. There was Lightningkit, his eyes wide with laughter.
"It's about time you've woken up," he mewed. Icekit glared at him. "What do you mean by that?" Icekit hissed. "It's the middle of the night!"
"Shh!" Lightningkit hissed back. Petalfall was asleep, and Icekit's outbust hadn't woken her.
Lightningkit turned to her, his eyes excited. "I had an idea," he whispered. "Lets sneak out of camp!"
Icekit felt her spirits rise. For a moon her and Lightningkit have been trying to sneak out of the camp, only to be caught. Now was their chance.
"But how are we supposed to sneak out? Someone must be guarding the enterance!"
"Yes, but I've found another way out," Lightningkit mewed excitedly.
"You have?" Icekit asked, her tail bristling in growing anticipation.
"Yeah. Be quiet and follow me."
Lightningkit looked around the den to make sure Petalfall wasn't awake, and he tip-toed out of the nurcery with Icekit at his heels. A warrior named Eagleshadow was guarding the camp. But the black tom was facing towards the outside of the camp. Lightningkit padded over to this tiny rock pile behind the nurcery. "This way," he whispered.
Lightkit scrambled onto the first boulder, and then onto the second. In a few heartbeats he was at the top. Icekit braced her self, and leaped onto the first bulder without a sound. She jumped for the second boulder, but landed short. Her claws scraped against the stone, and she scrambled to the boulder. Eagleshadow stiffened and turned around. Icekit froze, praying to StarClan that she wouldn't be spotted. To her relief, the tom turned around and focused his attention back onto the forest. Icekit sighed in relief and leaped up to the top. But one of the stones gave way, and Icekit started to slip. Lightningkit quickly leaned foward and hauled her onto the edge. Icekit silently thanked him by giving him a swift lick on the ear.
Lightningkit nodded, and the two kits ran into the forest. Once they were far enough from the camp, Icekit and Lightningkit sat down. "It's amazing out here," she breathed.
"Yeah," Lightningkit agreed. "I can't believe-"
The tabby tom was cut off by a snarl that sounded behind the two kits. They spun around, fur bristling and Icekit realized where the snarling came from.
"Foxes!" she screeched. Icekit took off, terrified. She ran deeper into the forest, with the foxes at her heels. She ran and ran until she thought her lungs would burst.
Suddenly pain shot through her hind paw, and she went flying into the air. Icekit hit against a tree with a thud. She had tripped over a root. Icekit got up, ignoring the pain in her paw, and tried to run again. But she was cornered by the foxes. Their eyes sparkled with menace, and they went on to pursue the tiny kit. Goodbye ThunderClan, she thought, closing her eyes.
Suddenly a high pitched yowl sounded in front of her, and the foxes let out a yelp. She opened her eyes. Lightningkit! He was battling the foxes!
Icekit leaped on the second fox, and bit deep into its leg. It yelped in pain, and ran into the forest. Icekit turned around to help finish off the other fox. But then she gasped in horror. There Lightningkit lay, his life bleeding out of him from a massive bolt-shaped wound on his flank. She sreeched in fear and fury, and landed on the fox. You'll regret ever laying a claw on him! she thought, ripping violently at its eyes. The fox screeched, and easily shook her off. She landed on the ground, and the fox slowly walked up to her, snarling. Icekit closed her eyes.
A cat's yowled sounded through the air and Icekit opened her eyes. Flamestar! The ThunderClan leader had sent the fox running. He turned to Icekit, his eyes lit with fury. "What in StarClan's name are you doing out here?" he hissed.
"Help Lightningkit!" she begged. Flamefoot turned around and gasped. "Oh no!" he mewed. Flamestar picked the kit up and ran towards the camp. Icekit followed, wondering if her only friend was lost forever.
